3 DIY Moisturising Masks For Oily Skin

If your skin is oily, it doesn't automatically follow that it will be well-hydrated.  Even oily skin types need regular treatment with moisturiser to keep them supple and free from wrinkles.  In addition to your usual daily moisturiser, here are three easy DIY moisturising face masks that are perfect for use on oily skin.

Avocado face mask

You will need:

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh lime juice
  1. Start by peeling the avocado.  Remove the stone and mash the flesh to a paste.
  2. Place the egg white, lime juice and avocado in a small bowl and mix thoroughly.
  3. Massage the resulting paste onto your face and neck, using your fingertips.  Leave the mask on your face for about 20 minutes.
  4. Rinse your face with tepid water and pat dry with a clean towel.

Aloe Vera and orange juice face mask

You will need:

  • freshly squeezed orange juice
  • aloe vera gel
  1. Mix one tablespoon of freshly squeezed orange juice with one teaspoon of aloe vera paste.
  2. Use the paste to massage the mixture into your skin, avoiding your eye area.  Allow an even layer of paste to rest on your skin for about 20 minutes.
  3. Rinse your face with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel.

Honey and banana face mask

You will need:

  • 1 very ripe banana
  • organic honey
  • freshly squeezed orange or lemon juice
  • a food blender
  1. Peel the banana and cut it into small pieces.
  2. Place the banana and two tablespoons of honey into a blender and blitz until smooth.
  3. Add a few drops of orange or lemon juice and mix well.
  4. Massage the paste into your face and neck, but avoid your eyes.  Leave the paste on for 20 minutes.
  5. Rinse your face clean with tepid water and pat dry with a clean towel.

All these masks will leave your skin feeling smooth and moisturised, without the oily residue that some creams can leave behind.  When you've finished your mask treatment, apply your usual moisturiser cream or gel to lock in the hydration and keep your skin plumped up and wrinkle-free.

In conclusion

You can augment the specialist moisturising treatment that you enjoy at your local beauty salon by using the easy DIY mask recipes outlined above.  Always ask your beauty specialist for more advice about how to care for your oily skin and which moisturising products are best for you.

About Me

Looking for a new uniform

Our netball team has a budget for a new uniform at last--after much begging. We've had an old uniform for years, and it's a little embarrassing to see the cool uniforms some of our competitors have while we play in something straight out of the 1980s. We are trying to decide the exact format of the uniform by looking at some of the cool uniforms of different teams around the world, both from the netball world as well as other sports. If you are also looking at netball uniform options then this blog should be a good start for you.
